The Macedonian Lawyers Association and the Rule of Law Department of the OSCE Mission to Skopje have prepared a Collection of Court Decisions. The Collection contains various legal issues from the spheres of criminal law and civil law that are current in the domestic court practice, as well as an additional, smaller part that wil relate to the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights.
Other activities: A session of the Assembly of the Macedonian Lawyers Association and sessions of the Management and Supervisory Boards were held on February 26th 2010. At the session of the Assembly, the following documents were adopted, after previously having discussed them during the work of the Management and Supervisory Boards: the Working Report of the MLA for 2009 and the Financial Statement for 2009, at the same time stressing the successful work and the significant results. The Working Plan and the Financial Plan for 2010 were adopted during the session as well. As proposed by the Management Board of the Association, the Assembly made a decision to increase the number of members of the Management Board by three. The President of the Macedonian Judges Association by function (at the moment, the president is Dragan Tumanovski Ph.D., judge at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Macedonia) Mr. Mislim Dachi, secretary at the "Zdravko Chochkovski" High School in Debar, and Mr. Jovica Peshikj, secretary of AgroKumanovo - Kumanovo
An initiative raised: The Macedonian Lawyers Association has raised an initiative for amendment of the Law on Litigation Procedure (LLP) that was submitted to the Ministry of Justice and to other authorized bodies.
Assembly of the Macedonian Lawyers Association:
In the scope of the 61st Lawyers Meeting in Ohrid, a session of the MLA’s Assembly was held on the 5th of November 2009 on which new members of the Association’s bodies and the new president for the upcoming four year mandate were elected. M-r Tito Belichanec Ph.D., professor at the Faculty of Law “Justinijan Prvi” at the University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje was elected president of the Association
An initiative raised: The Macedonian Lawyers Association has submitted an initiative to the Ministry of Justice with the purpose of defining the conditions for taking the Bar examination and the realisation of the necessary legal practice, according to the new Bologna model of studies (ECTS)
A round table held: On the round table was held on October 1st 2009 in Skopje, organised by the Macedonian Lawyers Association on the topic: Penal interest according to the Law on Obligations. A working commission was formed after the three-hour discussion that will review the disputable provisions in the Law on Obligations. The working group has prepared suggestions for the amendment of the Law on Obligations (in the part of interest) and submitted them to the Ministry of Justice.
Civil Justice Systems in Europe: Implications for Choice of Forum and Choice of Contract Law A Business Survey These are the results of a survey of 100 European businesses. The survey was conducted by the Oxford Institute of European and Comparative Law and the Oxford Centre for Socio-Legal-Studies.It was funded by Clifford Chance LLP and had the support of the European Justice Forum and theEuropean Company Lawyers Association (ECLA). The organization of the data collection and thecomputation of the final results was undertaken by Alexander Wulf MLB of the London School ofEconomics’ MSc programme on Social Research Methods.
